Amarillo, Texas – The Texas Panhandle will begin the new week with dry and warmer-than-average weather before a series of cold fronts brings cooler temperatures by mid to late week.
According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, high pressure will settle over the region on Monday and Tuesday, allowing temperatures to climb steadily with little to no chance of precipitation. Highs early in the week are expected to rise well above recent levels, offering a noticeable break from winter chill.
The pattern begins to shift on Wednesday, when the first of two cold fronts moves across the Panhandles. This front will help moderate temperatures, knocking highs down slightly while still keeping conditions mostly dry. Forecast guidance suggests a gradual cooling trend rather than an abrupt drop at midweek.
A stronger cold front is expected Friday, reinforcing cooler air across the region. By Friday afternoon, high temperatures may struggle to rise much beyond the lower 40s, especially in northern portions of the Panhandles. The National Weather Service indicates a 30% to 40% chance that highs settle into the low 40s by the end of the week.
Despite the temperature swings, rain chances remain low through the entire period, with dry conditions expected to dominate. Winds may increase at times with frontal passages, but no hazardous weather advisories are currently in effect.
The shifting pattern could impact commuters, students, and outdoor workers as mornings start mild early in the week and trend colder by Friday.
