Amarillo, TX Fall Weather Outlook: Showers Today Before Bright, Breezy Days Return by Thursday

Amarillo, TX – A few morning showers could make for damp commutes across the Texas Panhandle today, but sunshine is on the horizon. The National Weather Service in Amarillo reports a low chance of thunderstorms through the afternoon before clear skies and warmer temperatures return by Thursday.

According to the latest Hazardous Weather Outlook, light storms may develop today across the combined Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles. The risk for severe weather remains low, but drivers along Interstate 40 and U.S. Highway 287 should use caution due to slick conditions early in the day. Winds are expected to shift from the northeast to east at 10 mph.

By Wednesday, partly cloudy skies will give way to full sunshine and highs near 83°F by Thursday. Fall-like conditions will settle in heading into the weekend, perfect for pumpkin patch visits, leaf viewing, and outdoor decorating.
