Amarillo, Texas – Residents across the Texas Panhandle can expect a stretch of hot August weather in the 90s paired with a growing chance for afternoon and evening storms through early next week. Storm activity will stay concentrated in the far western Panhandle on Saturday but is forecast to spread eastward Sunday and Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, Saturday’s storm risk sits around 20% for the far west, with highs ranging from 90° to 98° and overnight lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. By Sunday, a 30% chance of storms is expected across more of the region, with highs near 97° and lows in the mid-60s. The same storm coverage continues into Monday.
Travelers should remain alert for sudden downpours, lightning, and gusty winds during the late afternoon and evening hours. Outdoor plans may need adjustments, and residents are advised to secure lightweight outdoor items that could blow away in storm winds.
This pattern of daily storm chances is likely to persist into early next week, with additional advisories possible as rain potential increases eastward.
