Amarillo, TX – After a cooler Sunday across the Texas Panhandle, residents can expect a quick return to warmer, more seasonable temperatures as the new workweek begins, with highs climbing well above average before another cold front arrives midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, temperatures will rebound rapidly, reaching the low to mid-60s Monday and warming further into the upper 60s and mid-70s by Tuesday and Wednesday. Sunshine will dominate much of the forecast, providing a noticeable contrast to Sunday’s chill.
Sunday remains the coolest day of the stretch, with highs ranging from the upper 30s to mid-50s, depending on location, and overnight lows dipping into the 20s and lower 30s. Milder overnight temperatures follow early next week, with lows rising into the upper 20s to low 40s through Wednesday morning.
Forecasters note that another cold front is expected to move through Wednesday night, bringing temperatures back closer to normal for mid-December by Thursday. Highs are expected to settle into the mid-50s to low 60s, with increased cloud cover possible behind the front.
No significant precipitation is currently expected with either system, but residents should be prepared for fluctuating temperatures and breezy conditions at times, particularly around frontal passage.
The warmer stretch early next week could provide a welcome break for outdoor activities, holiday errands, and travel across the Panhandle before cooler air settles back in late week.
