Fort Wayne, IN – Drivers in Allen County should prepare for a new traffic pattern this week at the I-469 and U.S. 24 interchange, as the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) continues major paving and ramp improvement work.
According to INDOT and the Indiana State Police Fort Wayne Post, the new on-ramp from westbound U.S. 24 to southbound I-469 opened after October 21. Meanwhile, other nearby ramps are temporarily closed for concrete paving, shifting regular traffic flows through detours.
Among the key changes:
- The exit ramp from southbound I-469 to U.S. 24 is closed for concrete work.
- The on-ramp from eastbound U.S. 24 to southbound I-469 is also closed temporarily.
- Eastbound U.S. 24 traffic heading to I-469 will now use the loop ramp as a detour.
INDOT advises motorists to use caution, allow extra time, and watch for updated signage as crews adjust the interchange to its new configuration. These traffic changes are part of a broader construction project improving safety and flow at one of northeast Indiana’s busiest junctions.
Drivers can check 511in.org or INDOT’s official social media for real-time traffic updates.
