Allen County, IN – The Allen County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run that injured one of their officers Saturday night.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened around 9:20 p.m. at the intersection of Wallen Road and Lima Road when an oncoming truck turned directly in front of a patrol vehicle, causing a significant collision. The driver fled the scene immediately after the crash.

Deputies say they are searching for a dark-colored Ford F-250 or F-350 equipped with a red plow on the front and a salt spreader on the back. The department released dashcam footage showing snowy road conditions at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or driver — no matter how small — is urged to contact the Allen County Sheriff’s Department at (260) 449-3000. Tips can remain anonymous.

The department emphasized the urgency of locating the suspect, noting that one of their own deputies was behind the wheel when the crash occurred.
