Albuquerque, NM – The National Weather Service in Albuquerque reports that a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through midnight Sunday night as light snow, freezing fog, and strong winds continue across northern and central New Mexico.

Forecasters say 3 to 4 inches of additional snow are possible above 8,500 feet, especially near Taos, Chama, and Los Alamos, with snow tapering off by 5 a.m. Monday. At lower elevations, patchy fog and freezing fog could create slick spots on roads from Gallup to Santa Fe and Chama between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Meanwhile, breezy to locally windy conditions will persist across eastern New Mexico and the mountain ranges, with gusts up to 40 mph making travel difficult for high-profile vehicles, particularly along I-40 near Clines Corners.

The NWS urges travelers to slow down, use extra caution on mountain passes, and check the latest road reports before heading out. Conditions are expected to improve gradually by Monday afternoon.
