Vadito, NM – A man wanted in connection with an April 2025 Albuquerque homicide has been arrested following a coordinated effort between the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) and the Albuquerque Police Department (APD).

According to the New Mexico State Police, detectives with APD’s Investigative Support Unit requested assistance from NMSP’s Crime Suppression Bureau on October 20, 2025, to locate Wyatt Gonzales, who was wanted for a homicide in Albuquerque earlier this year.

Through a joint operation involving NMSP’s Tactical Team and Crime Suppression Bureau, officers located Gonzales and his girlfriend, Vanessa Ward, in Vadito, New Mexico. Both surrendered peacefully and were taken into custody without incident, authorities said.

The New Mexico State Police stated they will continue collaborating with APD and other law enforcement agencies to remove dangerous offenders and maintain public safety. APD continues to lead the ongoing investigation into the April homicide case.
