Edmonton, AB – A snowfall warning remains in effect across Edmonton as up to 10 centimeters of snow continues to fall through Thursday morning, creating hazardous travel and visibility conditions.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, wet snow began early Thursday and transitioned to heavier snowfall with wind gusts reaching 40 km/h. Temperatures are expected to fall to -2°C by the afternoon, with wind chills near -8°C making outdoor conditions uncomfortable and potentially dangerous.

Snow will continue through Thursday night with another 5 to 10 cm possible. Winds from the northeast at 20 km/h will ease overnight but not before causing drifting snow and reduced visibility. Overnight lows will fall to -8°C, with wind chills near -14°C expected by morning.

Commuters are advised to plan for delays and poor driving conditions, particularly on untreated roads. Officials recommend dressing in layers and limiting exposure due to wind chills. Snowfall is forecast to taper Friday with just 2 cm expected, followed by a return to sun and clearer skies by Saturday.

This late-season system is not unusual for Alberta, but it serves as a reminder that winter weather can still impact the region well into spring.
