Albany, NY – Residents across eastern New York and western New England should expect a mild but damp night as showers move in from the west ahead of the next cold front, according to the National Weather Service in Albany.
Forecasters say light to moderate rain will develop late Tuesday evening, Oct. 21, and continue overnight. Temperatures will stay above seasonal averages, with lows ranging from the upper 30s in the Adirondacks to the upper 40s in the Hudson Valley and Berkshires.
According to the NWS, areas such as Albany, Pittsfield, and Poughkeepsie can expect lows near 49°F, while Old Forge and Newcomb may dip into the upper 30s. Winds will remain light, but fog and patchy drizzle are possible in valleys and low-lying areas before sunrise.
Rain is expected to taper off by Wednesday morning, followed by a brief period of clearing before another cold front moves in later this week, bringing cooler, more seasonal temperatures.
Drivers are advised to watch for wet roads and reduced visibility overnight.
