Albany, New York – After a chilly sunrise across eastern New York, temperatures are beginning a steady climb this morning, bringing a calmer and milder day to the Capital Region with highs reaching the low to mid-40s in valley communities by mid-afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, winds will be noticeably lighter today compared to Saturday, allowing temperatures to recover despite a mostly cloudy sky across much of the region. The warming trend will be most noticeable in lower elevations, including Albany, Schenectady, Troy, and areas along the Hudson Valley.

Higher terrain locations across the Catskills, Berkshires, and southern Adirondacks will remain cooler, with afternoon highs expected in the mid to upper 30s.

A few passing snow showers may develop across the Adirondacks, but forecasters say most of eastern New York will remain dry throughout the day. Travel impacts are not expected outside of isolated higher elevation spots.

Drivers along Interstate 87, Interstate 90, and the Adirondack Northway should see generally quiet conditions compared to the windy weather earlier in the weekend.

Cloud cover may linger into the evening as temperatures slowly cool after sunset. Forecasters say conditions remain relatively calm for now, though additional weather systems could bring changes to the region later in the week.
