Albany, NY – The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a frost advisory for a wide area of eastern New York, western Massachusetts, and southern Vermont beginning midnight tonight through 8 a.m. Thursday.

Forecasters expect temperatures to fall to 33–36 degrees, leading to patchy frost formation across the region. The advisory includes the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, the Lake George and Saratoga region, Washington County, the Mohawk Valley, the northern and central Taconics, western Albany and Schenectady counties, and southern Vermont.

Cities and towns affected include Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga Springs, Glens Falls, Pittsfield, North Adams, Bennington, Brattleboro, and Great Barrington.

According to the NWS, frost could damage or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered. Gardeners, farmers, and homeowners are advised to cover plants or bring them inside before temperatures drop overnight.

This frost advisory continues a trend of early October cold snaps across the Northeast, following similar advisories issued in Vermont, New York, and Pennsylvania this week. Residents can expect cool mornings followed by more seasonable daytime highs.
