Albany, NY – Gusty winds are increasing this morning across eastern New York and western New England, with the strongest gusts expected through midday.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, wind gusts are forecast to range from 40 to 50 miles per hour across the Mohawk Valley, Capital District, and into the Berkshires. A Wind Advisory remains in effect until noon as the strongest winds move through the region.
Forecasters say winds will ramp up during the morning hours, creating blustery conditions that could make travel difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles on exposed roadways. Trucks, buses, and vehicles towing trailers may experience reduced stability during the strongest gusts.
The National Weather Service also warned that loose outdoor objects could be blown around and that tree limbs may be downed, which could lead to isolated power outages. Residents are encouraged to secure holiday decorations, trash bins, and other lightweight items.
Winds are expected to gradually diminish later today as the weather system moves east. However, brief periods of strong gusts may still occur through late morning before conditions improve.
This advisory is particularly relevant for commuters, delivery drivers, and holiday travelers on area highways during the morning hours.
Residents should remain alert to changing conditions and monitor local forecasts for updates as the Wind Advisory expires later today.
