Albany, N.Y. – Sunshine and warm air will dominate much of Saturday across eastern New York, with highs reaching the mid-70s to mid-80s. But the calm start to the weekend will give way to unsettled weather by Sunday as a cold front approaches the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, increasing clouds will move in Sunday afternoon, followed by scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could develop into heavy downpours during the late afternoon and evening hours.

The warmest conditions Saturday are expected along the Hudson Valley, while areas in the Adirondacks and Catskills remain cooler in the 70s. By Sunday, temperatures will range from the upper 60s in higher terrain to the low 80s in valleys.

Travelers should be alert for rapidly changing conditions late Sunday, particularly on the Thruway and I-87 corridors, where storms could reduce visibility and create ponding on roadways. Outdoor plans, especially in Albany, Schenectady, and Troy, may need to be adjusted for evening showers.

The unsettled pattern may linger into early next week, with additional showers possible as the front stalls nearby.
