Albany, N.Y. – Scattered showers and thunderstorms will move across eastern New York today as a cold front sweeps through, briefly dampening travel and outdoor plans before a stretch of dry, comfortable weather arrives just in time for the Labor Day weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, much of the Hudson Valley and Capital Region will see periods of light rain this morning before turning partly sunny. Thunderstorms may develop this afternoon, with localized downpours and brief gusty winds possible east of the Hudson. Temperatures will hold in the mid-60s to mid-70s.
By Saturday, high pressure takes control, bringing cooler, crisp air with highs in the lower 70s and abundant sunshine. Sunday will warm into the upper 70s with continued dry skies, and Labor Day itself looks seasonably warm, reaching near 80 degrees across the region.
Travelers and holiday planners should expect smooth conditions for outdoor gatherings, barbecues, and regional events after today’s unsettled weather clears.
The National Weather Service notes no major hazards after Friday, with the pleasant stretch lasting through Monday.
