Albany, NY – Hazy skies continue to blanket Albany and much of eastern New York today as wildfire smoke drifts in from Canada, keeping the air quality in focus for millions across the region. Temperatures will climb into the upper 70s and low 80s by this afternoon, with only a slight chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm—mainly across higher terrain near Glens Falls and the Adirondacks.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, the haze will persist through the evening and overnight hours, with lows ranging from 55 to 65 degrees. The combination of smoke and heat could reduce visibility for drivers on I-87, Route 9, and other area roadways. Residents, especially those with respiratory concerns, are urged to limit outdoor activity and keep windows closed as much as possible.
Communities from Saratoga Springs to Poughkeepsie and out toward Binghamton can expect a similar pattern: mostly sunny skies, filtered sunshine, and pockets of moderate air quality concerns. Isolated thunderstorms may pop up in higher elevations but are not expected to be widespread.
The hazy conditions could last into midweek, with the Weather Service monitoring for any air quality advisories or new updates as wind patterns shift.
