ALBANY, N.Y. – The Capital Region starts the week under clouds and spotty showers, but dry, crisp Fall sunshine is set to return by midweek. After a damp Tuesday morning, skies will clear, bringing cooler air and a classic October stretch of bright, comfortable days across the Hudson Valley.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a few light showers will linger early Tuesday with highs near 62°F and north winds around 7 mph. By Wednesday, the system exits, and dry high pressure settles in, allowing sunshine and cooler air to dominate through the rest of the week.

Highs midweek will reach the upper 50s, with nights dipping into the 30s — cool enough for patchy frost in some rural valleys. Conditions will be ideal for fall foliage drives along I-87 and the Mohawk Valley, as visibility and air quality both improve under the clearing skies.

Thursday and Friday will feature crisp mornings and sunny afternoons with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Winds remain light, making for calm travel and perfect outdoor conditions for seasonal chores and weekend festivals across Albany, Schenectady, and Rensselaer Counties.

Looking ahead, the weekend begins dry and partly sunny before a chance of light showers returns Sunday. Until then, Upstate New York enjoys a postcard stretch of Fall weather — brilliant sunshine, cool air, and golden leaves at their peak.
