Albany, NY – A breezy day is in store for much of eastern New York and western New England Tuesday, with wind gusts expected to reach 20 to 25 miles per hour.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Albany, the strongest winds are forecast along the Hudson and Champlain Valleys, where the terrain may channel the flow and intensify gusts. Communities from Glens Falls to Albany could see peak winds around 24 mph by late afternoon.

Despite the breezy conditions, temperatures will remain unseasonably warm. Highs are projected to reach the low to mid-70s across much of the Capital Region, central New York, and Vermont. Areas farther north, including the Adirondacks, will see cooler highs in the upper 60s.

The NWS advises residents to secure lightweight outdoor items such as patio furniture and decorations that could be displaced by stronger gusts. Drivers on north-south roads, particularly in valley locations, should also be prepared for occasional crosswinds.

Changes are on the way as the week progresses. Forecasters say cooler, more autumn-like air will move in by Wednesday and Thursday, bringing temperatures back down into the 60s for most locations. The pattern shift marks the beginning of a more seasonable October stretch.

Travelers and commuters should continue monitoring local forecasts for updates on shifting wind patterns and temperature drops later this week.
