Albany, New York – Cold January weather continues across eastern New York today, with mostly cloudy skies, passing snow showers, and temperatures remaining well below freezing.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, afternoon highs today are expected to range from the teens to the 20s across the Capital Region and surrounding areas. Skies will remain mostly cloudy, and some locations may see intermittent snow showers through the day.
Snow showers are expected to be light and brief, with little accumulation anticipated. However, temperatures near and below freezing could allow untreated roads and sidewalks to become slick in spots.
Tonight, colder air settles in as temperatures drop further. Overnight lows are forecast to fall into the single digits and teens, maintaining bitter conditions through early Sunday morning.
The National Weather Service noted that chilly temperatures will persist overnight, reinforcing winter travel concerns during late evening and early morning hours.
Residents are encouraged to dress for cold conditions, allow extra time for travel if snow showers occur, and monitor updated forecasts for any changes in snowfall coverage or temperature trends.
