Albany, New York – Light to moderate wet snow may create slippery travel conditions across eastern New York and western New England beginning Wednesday evening, especially along major highway corridors.

According to the US National Weather Service in Albany, snow and a wintry mix are expected to develop Wednesday afternoon and evening, particularly for areas north of and along Interstate 90. Forecasters say roads could become slick due to wet snow accumulation during the evening commute.

The greatest midweek impacts are anticipated Wednesday evening into Wednesday night, when light to moderate snowfall may lead to minor travel disruptions. Cities including Albany, Schenectady and Glens Falls could see snow-covered stretches along I-90 and I-87.

Earlier Wednesday, patchy fog may reduce visibility during the morning hours, though impacts are expected to be minor.

Conditions are forecast to improve Thursday with mostly to partly sunny skies before another system approaches late Thursday night into Friday. Increasing chances of snow, rain or a wintry mix are expected Friday, with moderate impacts possible depending on precipitation type and timing.

Travelers along I-90, I-87, US-7 and surrounding secondary roads should monitor forecast updates for potential changes in accumulation or storm track.

Evening commuters and school-related activities Wednesday night may be affected by slick roadways.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed as forecast confidence increases later this week.
