Albany, NY – An Arctic air mass will grip Eastern New York and Western New England through early next week, bringing continued below-normal temperatures and a chance of light snow late Sunday into Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, temperatures will remain well below seasonal averages through mid-December, with daytime highs in the 20s and 30s and overnight lows dipping into the single digits for some areas. A clipper system moving in Sunday night could bring a coating to 3 inches of snow, potentially causing slick conditions for the Monday A.M. commute.

Forecasters report a 20–50% chance of up to 1 inch of snow in valley areas, and a 50–70% chance for more than 1 inch in higher elevations, including the southern Greens, western Massachusetts, the Lake George–Saratoga region, and the northern Catskills.

Normal temperatures for this time of year are typically in the upper 30s and low 40s, but much colder air will persist across the region into next week. Residents with outdoor plans are urged to bundle up, limit time outside, and monitor updated forecasts as the system approaches.
