A winter storm continues to bring snow and freezing rain to upstate New York, making travel dangerous across the Capital Region. Snow accumulations between 6 and 10 inches are expected, with ice creating additional hazards on roads.

According to the National Weather Service, the winter storm warning remains in effect until noon Sunday, February 9. Areas including Albany, Schenectady, Troy, and Saratoga Springs are seeing heavy snowfall, with additional 2-4 inches expected overnight. A glaze of ice could make roads treacherous, especially along I-87 and I-90.

Drivers should use extreme caution, as roads will be slick with low visibility. If travel is necessary, carry a flashlight, food, and water in case of emergencies.

Looking ahead, Monday will bring partly sunny skies with highs near 28°F. Another winter system may develop by Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing another round of snow and possible mixed precipitation.

Residents should monitor updates and check road conditions before heading out.
