Albany, NY – Widespread light to moderate rain will continue spreading across New York from west to east tonight, bringing total rainfall of 0.5 to 1.5 inches through Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service Albany.

The heaviest amounts are expected in higher terrain areas, including portions of the Adirondacks and Catskills, where totals could reach the higher end of the forecast range. The rain is expected to persist through the overnight hours, potentially affecting the Wednesday morning commute with wet roads and reduced visibility.

According to the Weather Forecast Office in Albany, rainfall will be beneficial for the region, helping to alleviate recent dry conditions across upstate New York and western New England. Cities including Syracuse, Albany, Binghamton, and Poughkeepsie are expected to see between a half inch and an inch of rain.

No significant flooding is anticipated, but motorists are urged to drive cautiously in areas where ponding could occur on poorly drained roads. Rain is expected to taper off by Wednesday morning, followed by drier conditions later in the day.
