Albany, NY – The New York State Police have announced a live training drill taking place today at several major government buildings in downtown Albany, including the Capitol Building, Legislative Office Building, Robert Abrams Building, and the Empire State Plaza.
According to officials, the exercise will result in temporary closures of both buildings, sections of the Empire State Plaza concourse, and the Visitor Parking Lot beneath the plaza.
An increased police presence will be visible throughout the day as part of the training, but authorities emphasize that there is no threat to the public. Residents and visitors are being asked to avoid the area while drills are underway.
The training aims to enhance emergency preparedness and coordination between agencies working in and around New York’s Capitol complex.
Motorists and pedestrians in downtown Albany should expect brief delays and limited access until operations conclude later today.
