Albany, NY – Another stretch of unseasonably warm, dry weather is settling in across the Capital Region and much of eastern New York, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Albany.

Forecast models show temperatures climbing into the upper 70s and low 80s this weekend, with little to no rainfall expected through at least Tuesday, October 7. Albany, Poughkeepsie, Kingston, and other regional cities are forecast to see highs ranging from 77°F to 82°F through early next week, well above seasonal norms.

According to the NWS, precipitation chances remain low, ranging from 0 to 5 percent through Saturday, before increasing slightly to around 40–55 percent by Tuesday and Wednesday. Even then, showers are expected to be scattered and short-lived.

The pattern of above-normal warmth is expected to break by midweek, with cooler temperatures returning Wednesday night into Thursday, October 9. Highs will then fall back into the upper 60s and low 70s across much of the region.

This extended dry spell follows what has been a relatively mild start to October, offering favorable conditions for outdoor activities, fall events, and travel across the Hudson Valley, Catskills, and Capital Region.

The National Weather Service advises residents to take advantage of the warm, dry conditions this weekend before preparing for cooler, wetter weather next week.
