Albany, New York – A clipper system will bring widespread light to moderate snowfall to Albany and the Capital Region on Tuesday, with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation expected before precipitation tapers Tuesday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, snow will begin Tuesday morning and continue through the day. In Albany, forecast totals range from 2 to 3 inches, with a 24 percent chance of reaching 2 inches or more and a low probability of exceeding 4 inches.
Snowfall may transition to a wintry mix of sleet or freezing rain Tuesday afternoon, especially south and east of Albany, before diminishing in the evening. Snow showers could briefly redevelop Tuesday night, particularly west of the city.
Higher snowfall totals are expected in surrounding regions. Parts of the western Adirondacks, including areas near Old Forge, have a 68 percent chance of 4 inches or more, with localized totals of 4 to 6 inches possible.
