Albany, New York – A gusty start to the week across eastern New York will give way to a brief stretch of milder temperatures before colder air and a chance for rain and snow return by midweek, potentially affecting travel into Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, strong winds are expected Monday morning with partly to mostly sunny skies. Highs will range from the mid-20s to low 40s across the Capital Region, with the strongest gusts gradually easing through the afternoon. Dry conditions continue Tuesday as temperatures climb into the upper 30s and low 40s, offering the calmest weather of the week.

Changes arrive Wednesday as the next weather system moves in. Rain is expected to develop during the day, with temperatures reaching the mid-30s to mid-40s. As colder air filters in Wednesday night, rain may transition to a rain-and-snow mix, especially in higher elevations and north-facing valleys. This could lead to slick spots for early Thursday travel.

Colder air settles in Thursday and Friday, with highs dropping back into the 20s and 30s. Any lingering moisture could refreeze on untreated roads, bridges, and sidewalks.

Residents are encouraged to use caution during windy conditions Monday and stay alert for midweek changes. Forecast details on snow potential and timing will be refined, and additional advisories may be issued as colder air returns late in the week.
