Albany, New York – Wednesday — Snowfall totals across eastern New York and western New England ranged from less than an inch to more than 6 inches during a storm that moved through the region March 3–4.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, the heaviest snowfall was recorded in western Massachusetts and parts of southern Vermont, where totals reached between 5 and 6.5 inches in communities including Pittsfield, North Adams, Rutland and surrounding higher elevations.
In the Capital Region, including Albany, Schenectady and Troy, most areas reported between 1 and 3 inches of accumulation. Saratoga Springs and Glens Falls also recorded similar totals.
Further west toward Utica and Rome, snowfall amounts were lighter, generally under 1 inch to around 2 inches in localized bands.
Meteorologists noted that snowfall values between observation points are interpolated estimates and may not reflect exact totals at every location.
Road conditions improved Wednesday as crews cleared primary routes, though some secondary roads and higher elevations remained slick during the morning commute.
The early March snowfall added to what has been a variable late-winter pattern across the Northeast.
Additional updates will be issued if new systems develop later this week.
