Albany, NY – A coastal low-pressure system is spreading steady rain across eastern New York and western New England today, with widespread wet conditions expected through the evening, according to the US National Weather Service Albany.

Forecasters report that most areas will receive 0.25 to 1 inch of rain, though heavier totals up to 1.5 inches are possible in parts of the Hudson River Valley, Berkshires, and northwest Connecticut. Rain will become lighter and more scattered overnight, with patchy fog forming in valleys.

According to the Weather Service, dry and cooler air will move in Tuesday, followed by several days of partly sunny skies and seasonable temperatures in the 50s and 60s. The midweek stretch will mark a welcome break after the region’s soaking rainfall.

Travelers should allow extra time today due to wet roads and reduced visibility during heavier showers.
