According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, a trooper attempted to stop a Honda Civic for speeding shortly before 8:15 a.m. near milepost 173 on eastbound I-80. Authorities allege the driver refused to stop, initiating a pursuit that continued eastbound at speeds reaching approximately 130 miles per hour.

Troopers deployed spike strips at milepost 207, successfully deflating the vehicle’s tires. The pursuit ended near milepost 210, where the driver was taken into custody without further incident.

Authorities allege a juvenile female passenger was inside the vehicle. She was placed into protective custody and is now with the Wyoming Department of Family Services.

Upon searching the vehicle, troopers reported discovering a large quantity of suspected narcotics, including fentanyl pills, methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine, along with drug paraphernalia.

The driver, identified by authorities as a 21-year-old male from Honduras, is facing charges including felony drug possession, felony possession with intent to deliver, felony interference with child custody, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, fleeing and eluding, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations are assisting, according to officials.
