Anchorage, AK – The state of Alaska is forecast to see a cooler and wetter pattern from October 24 through October 28, 2025, according to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center’s latest 6–10 day outlook. The forecast indicates below-normal temperatures and above-normal precipitation across much of the state, signaling an early taste of winter for portions of the Interior and Southcentral regions.

According to NOAA’s update issued October 18, a series of low-pressure systems moving in from the Gulf of Alaska will bring repeated rounds of rain, snow, and gusty winds to the southern and coastal parts of the state. Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau can expect temperatures several degrees below seasonal averages, with highs mostly in the 30s and 40s and lows dipping into the 20s.

Snowfall is likely to increase in interior valleys and along mountain passes, while coastal areas could see a mix of rain and wet snow, especially later in the week. The Panhandle and southwest coast may experience heavier precipitation totals, with localized flooding possible in low-lying areas.

Meteorologists note this pattern aligns with a strengthening El Niño–driven jet stream, which often pushes wetter, colder air into Alaska during late fall. The outlook suggests the state’s early winter transition is arriving right on schedule.
