Alachua County, FL – Deputies in Alachua County arrested a man after a road rage confrontation escalated into an alleged gun threat Wednesday evening, according to the sheriff’s office.
In a report shared by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, a driver on NW 39th Avenue said a red Toyota Tercel pulled alongside him, and the male driver allegedly threw a coffee cup out the window, striking the victim’s vehicle. When the victim later caught up to the Toyota in traffic to question the act, the driver—identified as 27-year-old Ja’len Parks—reportedly pulled an AR pistol from his waistband and pointed it at the victim, who feared being shot.
The victim called 911 and provided Parks’ vehicle information. Deputies soon located the Toyota near SW 186th Street and Newberry Road. Parks was stopped, detained without incident, and found to be the sole occupant of the vehicle. A search revealed an AR pistol in the rear floorboard, deputies said.
Parks was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm.
