Newberry, FL – A 56-year-old Newberry man was arrested Thursday morning after investigators linked him to multiple videos containing child sexual abuse material uploaded to social media, according to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASO).
According to Detective J. Dawson with the ASO/Gainesville Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, a Cybertip led authorities to identify the suspect as Matthew Green of SW 15th Avenue, near Newberry Elementary School.
Detectives obtained and executed a search warrant on October 30, 2025, with the assistance of the ASO SWAT Team. During the operation, Green was interviewed and subsequently taken into custody. He faces charges of possession of child pornography, digital transmission of child pornography, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
Investigators emphasized that while Green’s residence is close to a school, there is currently no evidence suggesting he had any direct contact or interaction with students.
The investigation remains active, and officials noted that additional charges may follow. No further details were released to protect the integrity of the case.
The ICAC Task Force is a joint unit between the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and Gainesville Police Department, working together to identify and apprehend offenders exploiting children online.
