Gainesville, FL – A Gainesville man was arrested Friday afternoon after a traffic stop led deputies to uncover more than three pounds of marijuana and drug paraphernalia during a narcotics investigation near Santa Fe College, according to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies with the ASO FOCUS Unit conducted a traffic stop on a silver Nissan in the 3600 block of Northwest 83rd Street on Friday, January 2, 2026, for a traffic infraction. The driver, identified as 22-year-old Tavion Parker, was allegedly a suspect in an active narcotics investigation.

Deputies reported smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle and requested a narcotics K-9 unit. Following a positive alert during an open-air sniff, deputies conducted a probable cause search and allegedly found multiple clear bags of marijuana totaling nearly 7 ounces (197.9 grams), along with a heat-sealing machine.

Parker was arrested at the scene and transported to the Alachua County Jail.

The Sheriff’s Office said investigators had collected intelligence over several months indicating Parker was allegedly selling illegal narcotics, including marijuana and prescription drugs, from a residence in the 8200 block of Northwest 31st Avenue in Gainesville. While Parker was incarcerated, deputies executed a search warrant at the residence later that day.

During the search, deputies reportedly found 26 pre-packaged bags of marijuana totaling approximately 2.8 pounds (1,260 grams), along with drug paraphernalia. Authorities noted Parker does not possess a medical marijuana card.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Parker faces multiple felony charges, including possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a college, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.

The case remains under investigation.
