Alachua County, FL – Investigators are renewing their call for public help today as a decades-old cold case reaches another anniversary, marking 35 years since a Gainesville-area woman was found dead inside her home.

According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, 68-year-old Eileen Jones was discovered deceased during the morning hours of January 13, 1990, inside her residence at Windmeadows Mobile Home Park on Southwest Archer Road. A neighbor went to check on Jones after becoming concerned and found the front door unlocked. When there was no response, the neighbor entered the home and found her body.

Deputies responded to the scene shortly after and confirmed Jones was dead. Investigators began collecting evidence and interviewing neighbors as part of the initial response, authorities said.

Despite extensive investigative efforts over the years, including multiple interviews and the pursuit of numerous leads, the case remains unsolved, according to the sheriff’s office. No arrests have been made, and investigators say even small pieces of information could prove critical.

As the anniversary is observed, authorities are urging anyone who may know something—no matter how minor it may seem—to come forward. Tips can be directed to Investigator Todd Hand at (352) 367-4164 or (352) 756-3308. Information can also be emailed to thand@alachuasheriff.org.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Alachua County Crime Stoppers at 352-372-STOP.

The sheriff’s office said it remains committed to seeking justice and accountability and continues to review leads in hopes of providing long-awaited answers to Jones’ family and friends.
