Birmingham, AL — A winter weather advisory has been issued for portions of central Alabama, forecasting up to one inch of snow from 6 a.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The advisory includes Autauga, Bibb, Chambers, Chilton, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Perry, Randolph, Sumter, and Tallapoosa counties. Cities such as Selma, Prattville, Clanton, and Alexander City are among those expected to experience slippery road conditions during the advisory period.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, the snow could create hazardous travel conditions, particularly during the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Drivers are advised to slow down and exercise caution on roads, especially on bridges and overpasses.

The heaviest impacts are expected in areas with higher elevations, though accumulations are likely to remain below an inch. Residents are urged to monitor local forecasts for updates and to prepare for potential travel delays.

Temperatures will remain near freezing during the event, heightening the likelihood of ice formation. Those traveling early Wednesday should remain vigilant for slick spots, particularly in rural and less-traveled areas.
