HUNTSVILLE, AL – North Alabama faces icy roads and light snow overnight as a winter weather advisory takes effect from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Huntsville and surrounding areas could see up to one inch of snow and a light glaze of ice, making travel hazardous, particularly along I-565.
According to the National Weather Service Huntsville, the advisory covers north-central Alabama and southern middle Tennessee. Wind gusts up to 25 mph could worsen driving conditions, especially during the Wednesday morning commute. Drivers are urged to slow down and check road conditions by calling 511.
Tuesday night brings a 70% chance of rain and snow, shifting to snow showers after 3 a.m. with lows around 29°F. On Wednesday, temperatures will reach 36°F with snow showers likely before noon. Roads may remain slick through the morning.
