Huntsville, AL – A run of clear, mild nights and warm afternoons will hold across Madison County through the weekend before showers and a few thunderstorms return early next week. Afternoon highs will stay in the low to mid-80s, unusually warm for early October.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, Friday and Saturday will bring mostly sunny skies with highs near 83. Nights will be comfortable, dipping into the upper 50s and mid-60s under clear skies. Sunday will stay dry with highs near 85, but clouds will build late.

By Monday, a weak disturbance approaching from the west will increase rain chances. NWS forecasters note a 20 percent chance of showers developing after midnight Sunday, with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible through Tuesday afternoon. Highs will remain near 82–83, but humidity will climb. A stronger system could bring a few heavier downpours and gusty winds along I-65 and I-565 by Tuesday.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) advises drivers to be alert for slick roads during the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes if showers materialize. Outdoor plans this weekend should be fine, but residents are urged to monitor early-week updates, especially for lightning risks around schools and youth sports.

Locals are encouraged to take advantage of the dry weekend for seasonal activities but prepare for changing conditions next week by securing outdoor items, charging devices, and checking forecasts before Monday night travel. Pets and plants should be protected if thunderstorms develop.
