Birmingham, Ala. – Scattered afternoon thunderstorms and oppressive heat will dominate Central Alabama’s weather today, with high temperatures climbing into the mid-90s in places like Montgomery and Tuscaloosa.
According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, rain chances remain scattered for Tuesday afternoon but will increase slightly on Wednesday. Today’s highs will reach 94°F in Gadsden and 95°F in both Montgomery and Tuscaloosa, while overnight lows dip into the low 70s.
Travelers along I-20, I-65, and I-85 should expect brief downpours, especially between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Residents in Selma, Clanton, and Anniston should also stay alert for localized lightning and slick roads. While severe weather is not expected, sudden storms could impact outdoor plans and commutes.
Stay weather-aware and hydrate frequently. With heat indices near triple digits in urban zones, limit outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours.
Storm chances expand slightly Wednesday as humidity builds. More widespread rainfall is possible late afternoon into the evening, particularly near Birmingham and surrounding counties.
