Birmingham, Alabama – Isolated showers and thunderstorms could pop up across northeast Alabama this afternoon, with Gadsden and Anniston most likely to see storms before conditions dry out midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, scattered storms are possible through Tuesday evening, primarily in Calhoun, Etowah, and Cleburne counties. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 80s, with Gadsden reaching 85°F and Alex City peaking at 87°F.

Most of central Alabama, including Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Jasper, will remain warm and partly cloudy, with only a slight risk of rain. Tonight, temperatures will fall into the low to mid-60s across the state. Birmingham is expected to bottom out around 65°F, while Gadsden could dip to 61°F.

Drivers should remain cautious near areas expecting thunderstorms this afternoon, especially on I-59 near Gadsden and Anniston, where slick roads and brief downpours may occur. Residents are advised to keep weather alerts active and avoid outdoor activities during storm windows.

Drier air is expected to settle in by Wednesday, with sunny skies and stable temperatures continuing into late week.
