Huntsville, Ala. – Clear skies and crisp fall air greet north Alabama early Thursday morning, but the calm won’t last much longer. The Tennessee Valley is waking to a peaceful sunrise, yet a new weather pattern is quietly forming to the west — one that will bring clouds and scattered rain by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, Thursday remains beautiful and mild, with highs near 75°F and plenty of sunshine. It’s an ideal day for yardwork, late harvest cleanup, or early Halloween decorating. Friday will stay dry as well, but by Saturday morning, moisture begins streaming into the region ahead of a slow-moving front.

Light rain may start across northwest Alabama around midday Saturday, gradually expanding through evening. A few pockets of thunder are possible, but the main story will be the steady, soaking rain. Totals aren’t expected to cause flooding, though brief ponding on roads could slow travel along I-65 and U.S. 72. Temperatures will stay comfortable — highs in the low 70s — but humidity climbs noticeably as clouds thicken.

Showers linger into Sunday with a 60–70% chance of rain, tapering late as drier air filters south. Early next week, a weak ridge rebuilds, bringing sunshine and cooler nights in the 50s.

For now, north Alabama enjoys one more stretch of classic fall calm — but by the weekend, umbrellas and light jackets will be back in play. The pattern hints at an early taste of November’s cooler, wetter rhythm setting in soon.
