Birmingham, Alabama – Alabama is expected to see a generally quiet stretch of mid-January weather next week, with limited chances for rain and no meaningful threat of winter weather from Monday through Friday.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, much of Alabama falls within a below-normal precipitation zone during the January 12–16 period. Temperatures are projected to trend above seasonal averages, supporting mild afternoons and extended dry periods across the state.

Central and northern Alabama, including Birmingham, Huntsville, and Tuscaloosa, may see several consecutive dry days with only isolated, low-impact rain chances. In northeast Alabama, brief sprinkles or light showers cannot be ruled out, but rainfall amounts are expected to remain minimal. Southern Alabama, including Montgomery and the Wiregrass region, is also expected to stay mostly dry. Major routes such as I-20, I-65, I-59, U.S. 231, and U.S. 72 are not expected to experience weather-related travel disruptions.

The Alabama Department of Transportation typically reminds drivers that cooler overnight temperatures can still lead to patchy morning fog in valleys and near waterways, especially during early commutes. Motorists should remain alert despite the quiet pattern.

The drier trend looks likely to persist through much of the workweek, though minor disturbances remain possible. Overall, widespread weather-related impacts across Alabama appear unlikely through Friday.
