Huntsville, AL – A marginal risk for severe thunderstorms is on the table Tuesday for all of north Alabama and portions of southern middle Tennessee, according to the National Weather Service in Huntsville. While confidence is still low, forecasters say all modes of severe weather could occur.

According to the agency, storms are expected to develop sometime Tuesday as a disturbance moves across the region. Current outlooks highlight the potential for gusty to damaging winds, large hail, or even a tornado or two, though each hazard carries low confidence at this time. Forecasters emphasized that the setup remains uncertain and may shift as newer data arrives.

Residents across Madison, Limestone, Morgan, Lauderdale, Marshall, and surrounding counties are urged to stay weather-aware throughout the day Tuesday, especially during peak travel periods leading into the Thanksgiving holiday. The same caution applies for communities stretching northward toward the Tennessee state line and into southern middle Tennessee.

Safety officials remind residents to have multiple ways to receive warnings, as severe conditions can develop quickly even in low-confidence scenarios. Anyone who hears thunder or sees lightning should head indoors immediately. Updates are expected as forecasters refine timing and severity details Monday night into early Tuesday.

Although the overall threat is marginal, forecasters stress that isolated severe storms remain possible. Cooler and calmer conditions are expected to return after the system moves through.
