Huntsville, Alabama – Heavy downpours and thunderstorms will slam into northern Alabama by Tuesday morning, with Huntsville at the heart of the impact zone.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, showers and storms are expected to develop after 10 a.m. Tuesday and continue into the afternoon, bringing gusts up to 15 mph and a 90% chance of rain. Rainfall could exceed a quarter inch during heavier cells, particularly along major corridors like I-565, where reduced visibility and water pooling may slow travel through mid-afternoon.
Localized flooding and brief power interruptions are possible, especially in low-lying and poorly drained areas. Commuters are urged to avoid flooded roads and allow extra time during peak hours. Residents should secure outdoor items and monitor alerts throughout the day.
By Tuesday night, skies begin to clear, but scattered showers may linger. Lows will dip to the low 60s under calm winds. Wednesday offers a much-needed break with only a 20% chance of isolated rain and highs climbing to the mid-80s. Sunshine returns in force Thursday, pushing highs to 88°F.
Looking ahead, scattered storms may return by Friday, with a 70% chance of rain and another round of possible thunderstorms. The weekend looks partly sunny with scattered rain chances—Saturday brings a 30% chance of storms, dropping to 40% by Sunday.
