HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Thunderstorms could bring soggy conditions to parts of northern Alabama through Sunday, with the greatest chances of rain and lightning expected east of I-65. Drivers and outdoor plans may be impacted by scattered showers through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, storm chances remain low to moderate, ranging from 20 to 60 percent depending on location and timing. Saturday looks to carry the highest risk of storms, with rainfall most likely in areas such as Scottsboro, Fort Payne, and Gadsden. Some storms could briefly bring heavy downpours and gusty winds.

Huntsville, Decatur, and Athens may see spotty showers, but coverage should remain limited. The better chance for dry hours arrives Sunday night as a cold front sweeps across the region. By Monday, cooler and drier air will settle in, offering more comfortable mornings and plenty of sunshine.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local alerts, especially if traveling along I-65 and into northeast Alabama this weekend. More updates may be issued if storms become widespread.
