Birmingham, AL – The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Frost Advisory for a wide stretch of central and western Alabama, in effect from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. CST Monday.

According to the NWS, temperatures are expected to drop to around 35 degrees, leading to widespread frost formation across 22 counties, including Jefferson, Tuscaloosa, Shelby, Blount, and Dallas. Areas from Birmingham to Selma, Tuscaloosa, and Gadsden could see the coldest conditions just before sunrise Monday.

Forecasters warn that frost may damage or kill sensitive outdoor plants if left unprotected. Residents are advised to cover vegetation or move potted plants indoors before temperatures begin to fall late Sunday night.

This advisory marks one of the first frost events of the season for central Alabama, signaling a shift to colder November mornings. Conditions should improve after 8 a.m. Monday, with daytime highs rebounding into the mid-50s.

Motorists are also urged to use caution for frosty windshields or slick surfaces early Monday morning.
