Birmingham, AL – Alabamians can expect a breezy and chilly finish to the week, with the first frost of the season likely arriving by Friday night, according to the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
Wind gusts up to 25 mph are expected through Thursday, prompting officials to remind residents to secure Halloween decorations and outdoor items. Lingering light showers and drizzle early Thursday will taper off by afternoon, setting up a clear but cold end to the week.
According to the National Weather Service, overnight lows will dip into the 30s across much of central and northern Alabama Friday and Saturday mornings. Some areas could see temperatures cold enough for a light freeze, particularly in low-lying or rural spots.
Cities including Birmingham, Gadsden, and Hamilton are forecast to see lows near or below 35°F, while Tuscaloosa and Montgomery may stay just above freezing. Daytime highs are expected to rebound into the 50s and low 60s under mostly sunny skies heading into the weekend.
Residents are encouraged to take precautions to protect sensitive plants, pets, and outdoor plumbing before temperatures fall late Friday night.
