Alabama – Headlights glow through a thick gray haze across Huntsville this morning as dense fog blankets north Alabama. Visibility drops in spots along valley roads and river crossings, creating slow travel across parts of Madison County.

The fog advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m., and drivers along Interstate 565, Interstate 65, and U.S. 72 may encounter rapidly changing visibility. Wet pavement and calm winds allow fog to linger near low-lying areas and open fields.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, areas of dense fog will gradually lift through late morning. After the fog clears, skies remain mostly cloudy while temperatures climb toward 76°F, bringing mild spring air across the Tennessee Valley.

Storm chances increase later today. Showers and thunderstorms may develop during the afternoon, especially as humid air continues pushing north from the Gulf. Rainfall totals should remain light initially, though stronger storms could briefly produce heavier downpours.

Rain becomes more widespread tonight. Thunderstorms are likely overnight with precipitation chances near 80 percent, and rainfall totals between 0.25 and 0.50 inches are possible in stronger cells.

Scattered storms continue Tuesday as temperatures climb close to 79°F, keeping the early spring pattern active across northern Alabama and southern Tennessee.

Meteorologists are closely monitoring Wednesday, when another round of rain spreads across the region. Rain chances climb to around 90 percent, and thunderstorms may bring gusty winds during the afternoon and evening hours.

Drivers should plan extra travel time if storms arrive during peak traffic periods. Heavy rain may briefly reduce visibility on U.S. 231 and Highway 53.

Conditions improve late week as cooler, drier air moves into the Tennessee Valley. Sunshine returns Thursday with a noticeable drop in temperatures.
