According to the US National Weather Service Birmingham Alabama, severe weather activity is expected to begin as early as 8 a.m. in northern parts of the state, sliding southward throughout the day. The risk for isolated storms developing continues into the late afternoon and early evening hours, with the threat period extending until 7 p.m.
Cities such as Birmingham and Anniston could see the earliest impacts, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Further south, including Montgomery and Alex City, the severe weather window is anticipated between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The main concern across all affected areas is damaging winds capable of downing trees and power lines.
The National Weather Service advises residents to have multiple ways to receive alerts, ensure access to a sturdy shelter, and regularly check for updates. While the risk level is currently categorized as “Marginal,” sudden intensification remains possible.
