Birmingham, AL – Residents across Central Alabama will feel the first real taste of fall tonight as cooler temperatures and drier air move into the region. According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, highs Thursday will reach the upper 70s to lower 80s, followed by overnight lows dipping into the 50s.

The agency reported early Thursday morning that a weak system will bring slight rain chances in the eastern parts of the state through early evening, mainly around Auburn, Anniston, and Eufaula, before clearing skies take over. Areas farther west, including Tuscaloosa, Hamilton, and Demopolis, are expected to stay dry.

Tonight’s lows are forecast to range from 54°F in Gadsden to 60°F in Montgomery and Tuscaloosa, while Friday morning could start even cooler in the low 50s for much of North and Central Alabama.

Forecasters say the weekend will bring pleasant fall weather, with abundant sunshine and comfortable afternoon highs in the mid-70s to low 80s. The pattern should hold through early next week, when temperatures are expected to warm slightly.

Motorists heading out early Friday should prepare for crisp, cool conditions, especially in valleys and rural areas.
